Michael A. Slavin, previously an Engineering Manager for the Beatrice Foods Divisions of Culligan International & Arrowhead Industrial Water, provides technical expertise for all facets of water chemistry and associated design of potable water treatment equipment including hazardous waste. Mr. Slavin’s
patent expertise extends to mechanical, electrical, software and
electro-mechanical devices. Mr. Slavin is the named attorney of record
on over 1300 Federal Trademark Applications & Registrations. Mr. Slavin has been the Managing Partner of the firm since its inception in 1992. Mr. Slavin met Mr. McHale in 1990, where they handled a number of litigation cases together and found a unique relationship existed that combined intellectual property prosecution and litigation experience.
Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1957, Mr. Slavin received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Illinois University in 1979 and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1989. Mr. Slavin is admitted to the Illinois Bar, U.S District Court Northern District of Illinois, the Florida Bar, U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the 7th and 11th Circuits, and is a Trial Bar member.
Mr. Slavin is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark
Office and the Canadian Patent Office. Among his professional
associations are the Chicago Bar Association; Illinois Bar Association;
ALIPA; American Bar Association; Federal Bar Association; ALIPA; Society of
Automotive Engineers; Patent Law Association of South Florida; Past President NCS Palm Beach County Bar Association;
Co-chair PBBA Scholarship Fund; Member FAU President's Council; Review Board for IP-American Bar Association; and American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association. Mr. Slavin maintains a
100 Ton Coast Guard Master’s License.
